New Products Update - Recent Installation
Universal Packaging installed a Series 1500 "C" with Servo Positive Displacement Filler for liquid products in December. The Series 1500 "C" features Servo Film index, Infra-Red print registration, Toggle Link Endseal Close, and a 100 product memory location to name a few features.The system is used to package Gel Ice for the recreational industry. The application required the ability to changeover quickly from the smallest fill at approximately 8 ounces, to the largest fill in excess of 40 ounces of product. Production rates of over 45 packages per minute are possible due to the use of Universal Packaging's Servo Positive Displacement filler and it's ability to gradually accelerate to dispense products without splashing , then at the end of the fill a suck-back or reverse of the pump provides for a clean cut-off to allow for quality package seals.
The Series 1500 as equipped is ideal for packaging a variety of liquid products such as pie fillings and gels both with and without particulate. The system is available in a painted or all Stainless Steel wash-down configurations for food products and sanitary operations.
After the finished packages fall from the machine they are conveyed on a Universal Packaging TC Series of pack-off conveyors up to a table height for final packaging into master shipping cartons. The TC Series of pack-off conveyors provide as standard a 24" flat package infeed section that allows the conveyor to fit under the Series 1500 guarding, and allows the opening of the hinged guard doors without any moving of the conveyor.
Conveying speed is electrically adjustable to allow the speed to be matched to the production of packages, giving package separation for easier case loading.

In the fourth quarter of 2000 Universal relocated its office/manufacturing facilities to a 15,000 square foot facility located at 1308 Upland Dr. in West Houston.
